Plaque happens.
Maybe it’s just on my mind because I’m overdue for a dental appointment, but a sort of worldly mental plaque happens too if one is living and breathing in this world.
Time for a bath — splish, splash!
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;
Psalm 138:8
Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
When my faith falls face first into cowardice: He will perfect that which concerns me.
When things don’t go as planned: He will perfect that which concerns me.
When others abuse or distort my words: He will perfect that which concerns me.
When I have died to all I once hoped: He will perfect that which concerns me.
When the tears of youth become aged dry bones: He will perfect that which concerns me.
When no one else sees or cares or can help: He will perfect that which concerns me.
As many died without seeing the Promised Seed: He perfects that which concerns us.
As many former hopes became God’s patience towards us: He perfects that which concerns us.
Because “Blessed are those who believe and have not seen”: He perfects that which concerns us.
Any time I’ve been confronted with fears and tears over the past few weeks, when I notice the mental plaque starting to harden and reaching like a stalactite for my heart, I’ve thrown that sudsy verse up on my head and worked it to a lather, as other verses follow and the Holy Spirit gently rains down… or springs up… whichever you prefer. 😉
Either way, it’s the splish splash that I’ve needed…
Will He perfect that which concerns you?
You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
John 15:3
…that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word…
Ephesians 5:26
