Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly… — Psalm 1:1-2
A general definition of the sociological term “social construct” goes like this:
A social construct is something that doesn’t exist in objective reality but as a result of human interaction. In other words, it exists because we (humans) say it exists. (Paraphrased from verywellmind.com’s definition.)
Holding a B.A. in Sociology, I can affirm that this definition about sums it up. Tragically, many (self included) have put on the chains of indebtedness to gain such counsels from the ungodly. Thinking we are wise to point out our “social constructs”, we prove ourselves, again, to be fools. God has been pointing out our “social constructs” — that is, our experiential and experimental fantasies of pride, power, or rebellion — since the beginning of time.
“In the beginning” God created the objective reality in which we live beneath the Creator and His divine order as the spirit-breathed dust walking around in flesh and blood, and, shortly thereafter, humanity, through Adam and Eve, adhered to the words of the Ungodly One and began constructing the devil’s new reality: “You will be like gods” (Genesis 3:5).
Admittedly, he is a crafty serpent, the Bible says. The devil was guilty (Genesis 3:14).
Admittedly, Adam did not do his part, the Bible notes. Adam was guilty (Romans 5:12).
Admittedly, Eve was deceived, the Bible does not deny it. Eve was guilty (Genesis 3:13).
And thus was ushered in the first and utmost social construct of humanity: All [humans and devils present] agreed, we could be like gods, knowing good from evil.
Never mind God’s promised consequence bound within that construct: “You will surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17).
Never mind that knowing good from evil, the darkened hearts of humanity yet persist in “calling good evil and evil good” (Isaiah 5:20).
Deconstructing The Social Constructs
“To an image carved from a piece of wood they say, ‘You are my father.’ To an idol chiseled from a block of stone they say, ‘You are my mother.’ They turn their backs on me, but in times of trouble they cry out to me, ‘Come and save us!’ But why not call on these gods you have made? When trouble comes, let them save you if they can! For you have as many gods as there are towns in Judah. Why do you accuse me of doing wrong?
You are the ones who have rebelled, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 2:27-29).
Because we cannot and science cannot deny that 2 sexes exist, male and female, sociology came up with a new term (once only used in grammar classes); that new term was ‘gender’. We have “gender reveal parties” now, not sexual identity reveal parties — right? We list our ‘gender’ on documents now, rather than ‘sex’ (with few exceptions). We discuss ‘orientation’ within the spectrum of our own imaginations rather than the feelings, experiences, and limitations of binary roles crafted from a definite sex (that is, biologically male or female).
Why talk about ‘gender’ instead of sex? Because semantics matter. Under the new header of ‘gender’, pseudo-science can now deny the objective reality the two sexes biologically present and construct their own social construct of gender fluidity — as pop science has eagerly done.
Deeply entrenched in the pride of life, we construct wooden narrative after wooden narrative, stack stony semantics upon stony semantics, to maintain our own facades of reason and cover our sins with the newest accusatory fig leaf: the ‘social construct’.
Your religion is a social construct.
Your gender is a social construct.
Your very concept of life and death has been constructed for you by society.
They boast of these revelatory declarations as if they have not in the process conveniently constructed their own towering chimera of importance and absolute rightness — the social construct of themselves as master builders, as they gain approved traction in government, advertising, and education. Ironic — isn’t it?
God laughs (Psalm 2).
Repeatedly, long before the official study of Sociology was a thing, God informed the nations of their sin in constructing their own realities apart from Him. Wood, stone, metal, flesh, or theory, He often mourned Israel’s ignorance or vanity in worshiping things that could not save them, things they had manipulated with their own hands, thing they merely imagined to be powerful and endued with power only by their own social and sinful approval of them.
Today, we tell the One True God — the One who told us these things about Israel (and ourselves) — that He too is a mere social construct, a figment of our collective imagination, the leftover drivel of some past evolutionary stage, as if He too were made by flesh to stoke the fires of our own stony morality and tinny justifications, as we throw anyone who does not bow to our social construct of His supposedly social construction into the flames of false accusation and cancellation. Indeed, many who have ‘fallen away’ from Christian faith in our day have fallen prey to such erroneous constructs — no doubt, constructed by devils but perpetrated by sinful humanity.
Returning briefly to the concept of ‘gender’, the ungodly construct social constructs from chimeras with no foundation. They construct new social constructs to replace the ones they simply don’t like. Those adhering to these revived rebellions at heart replace 2 sexes and the created order with an all or nothing mindset: There is either all possible hybrids of genders (transhumanism, gender-bending, etc., beings) or there is no gender at all. They socially construct both as true at once with no objective substance, proof, or reality.
(Note, Coca-Cola’s new commercial which emphasizes this point using half human, half beast — the centaur and the werewolf — in a campaign that makes little-to-no sense outside of the transhuman/gender social construct agenda.)
A man who dresses as and identifies as a deer, after all, is not a deer — no matter how hard he imagines it to be true. Even if he were to truly lose his mind and be convinced of this identity as fact, would we believe him? (In prior days, though I must wonder if it yet true today, he would be placed in a mental health facility to live out his rightly-called delusions.) Yet, this is the very same logic the ungodly have applied to matters of gender today: If you feel it, you are it. And those pointing out such degenerate constructs, they say, should be ashamed of their biblically, biologically, and substantively objective reality.
Hm. It’s upside-down world — isn’t it? They accuse Christians (or anyone in dissent) of the very thing (limited social construction) they themselves are guilty (licentious social construction).
Again, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly.”
The world’s teachings concerning these things are “the counsel of the ungodly” — are they not?
Should you then adhere to or be verklempt about such arguments as a Christian, old or young?
I think not.
How can we be so sure which is the right construct? Simply put, we stop imagining ourselves to be gods (our ‘original sin’) and remember there is only One True God and Creator (Romans 1).
Created beings that remain in remembrance of the Creator never worship themselves — nor their own constructions.
The Other Immaterial Construct
Truly, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10).
Anyone denying the spirituality, the immaterial substance, behind these worldly social constructs, need only to examine a few of the popular music videos of our day to smell the brimstone. I do not recommend viewing any of them for pleasure or for long, only long enough clips to understand the present spiritual movement of wickedness in these days.
Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, and Lady Gaga have been about as grotesque and obvious in their spiritual influences as can be — and I didn’t think it could get worse. Then, came the clips of LilNasX and his “Montero” video (along with the Luke 10:18 shoes). He really took it to the next level and uncloaked the immaterial agenda-at-hand. And, I can’t help but notice that sexual perversion and satanic symbolism (or overt worship of the devil) seem to go hand-in-hand — don’t they?
Like the children of Israel dancing around a golden calf and feasting on an orgy (Exodus 32). I still can’t figure out why our culture in particular considers itself so ‘progressive’; all evdience to the contrary — right?
If we take Genesis 6, along with the creation story, seriously and literally (as I believe we ought), then LilNasX’s video should be no real shocker. The devil’s tricks haven’t changed. In the beginning he said, “You shall be as gods” if you disobey God’s commands; today, people like LilNasX fantasize (according to his own video) about stealing the devil’s throne. Ludicrous, but hardly surprising.
The enemy of your soul really doesn’t care whose power you think you can usurp (his or God’s or man’s), just so long as you live under his delusion that, indeed, you can usurp it!
Well, that sums up Genesis 3. As for Genesis 6 — It is impossible to watch the “Montero” video and not think of the Nephilim (the fallen angels coming down to bear children with human women). Granted, LilNasX is male (whatever his beliefs), so the only children he will be bearing will be figurative (as a homosexual). Nonetheless, why sex acts with the devil? — Why is that suddenly en vogue? Don’t you think that’s odd?
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. — Matthew 24:37
The “sons of God” (angels) referred to in Genesis 6, who came down to sleep with the daughters of man, apparently did these acts in the days of Noah. While Jesus certainly clarifies his statement (in Matthew 24) by noting the obliviousness of the people in Noah’s day — the ordinary busyness of people preoccupied with life, who had no idea they were about to die — it is not too much of a stretch to read this further context (of fallen angels procreating with human women) into His words. (That’s my opinion. Do research the topic for yourself if you are interested… though a supposed ‘alien’ invasion and time will certainly tell the story eventually.)
I merely mean to point out 2 things on this particular social construct being built up today (the construct of approving/normalizing all perversions of sex acts, whether with human beings, beasts, or devils):
- It is not new.
- It is merely as “in the days of Noah”.
When a culture begins to exalt itself in pride because of its dark perversions — boasting about them rather than repenting of them — we can be sure, that culture is declining, plain and simple. Their immaterial social constructs tell on them, as well as on their spiritual influencers.
Walk not in the counsel of ungodly because “their father is the devil” (John 8:44).
Spiritual Constructs
It’s wise to remember that “They know not what they do” (Luke 24:34). Just because these things appear starkly to Christians, does not mean that all lost ones engaging in and following the sway of culture are at all aware of the spiritual implications of their acts. I don’t believe the majority are aware of such things. That is why our “weapons are not carnal” but spiritual (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Blindness doesn’t disappear because we make a good argument for sight; blindness requires the Healer to restore sight (John 6:44).
But I desire for the children of “Our Father in heaven” to not be caught unaware or unduly caught up in the present times. I write to the saints, even the confused or blurry, but I do not presume to be of much value to the spiritually blind, unless the Lord wills it.
(If you are not a Christian and find yourself yet reading this work and offended, please consider the fact that someone speaking Portuguese will not understand someone speaking Russian; likewise, someone absorbed in worldly things will not understand me when I speak of spiritual wars. That does not make either of us unintelligent, though it does indeed present a barrier to communication — doesn’t it? The Bible is not harsh when it says that light can have no fellowship with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14-17); it is simply pointing out this logical and very real barrier.)
Still, we are told that “Our Father in heaven” desires none to perish (2 Peter 3:9).
The spiritual construct of reality is this:
…What harmony does Christ have with Belial, or what does a believer share with an unbeliever? Or what agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,
“I will dwell among them and walk among them;
And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.
“And do not touch what is unclean;
And I will welcome you. And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almighty. — 2 Corinthians 6:15-18
Note of action:
One need only to repent and walk with God (as He walks with you in His created garden temple) to change one’s parentage and immaterial (that is, spiritual) construct.
Now, that’s Amazing Grace.
